Issue 21. Project 333 (Week 2)
how I want to look this fall and what I removed from my capsule to make it happen
This is part of a series about my experience with minimalist style challenge, project 333 - selecting ~33 articles of clothing to wear for three months. To read why I’m doing this and what I’ve included in my wardrobe, check out the first installment.
Each installment, I’ll reflect on the same short list of questions, to see how things change over the 12 weeks. Below are the questions, should you want to join in. Also, please feel free to suggest additional questions for the list!
How did you feel about the challenge this week?
What was your favorite outfit this week?
What was your least successful outfit this week?
What was your biggest challenge this week?
New question added this week: Any key changes ahead of next week?
WEEK TWO
How did you feel about the challenge this week?
Slightly unsure of myself. I felt more subject to the pressure of fall fashion this week, I think due to feeling less sure of myself, generally. Specifically, I really wanted another sweater or cardigan, since they seem to be so perfect for the climate here and my jackets have been too warm.
What was your favorite outfit this week?
At the weekend, we met up with some new friends to play pool at a local bar. I remember being torn on whether or not I should wear a white tee or a cute little navy linen top, but thought I’d feel more comfortable and relaxed in the tee. I think it was the right choice, and I ended up wearing the linen top into SF a day later, anyway!
TAKEAWAY: Loving these dark wash jeans as a totally different look compared to my baggy light wash pair.

What was your least successful outfit this week?
None!
Biggest challenge this week?
My biggest challenge this week was that I stained two of my favorite white tops (including the very new and very expensive Flore Flore Esme tee, Kelly and Maria’s review) and put them in the dryer before I fully removed the stains. Over the weekend I’ll do some serious work to get those stains out.
TAKEAWAY: I need to be diligent with my stain removal!
Any key changes to the capsule for next week?
SUBTRACTIONS
Took the cashmere striped sweater (similar from same brand in cotton) out of rotation because although I like the material and the fit, the stripes don’t make me feel beautiful.
MODIFICATIONS
I purchased Rit dye to dye the white/ blue striped sweater navy, but haven’t done it yet. I haven’t decided if it will actually ruin it, and be better to sell / try purchasing an oversized cashmere sweater in a solid navy instead. Let me know if you think the dyeing idea is crazy! Here’s how I want to wear sweaters & jeans this fall:
ADDITIONS
Pulling in a navy blue cotton sweater I originally omitted from the capsule, as removing the striped sweater left me with too few cozy options. I’m not sure this is cozy enough for me to want to wear this time of year, though.
I took advantage of the Shopbop end of summer sale and purchased the tube-top version of the Abrand 90s baby tee I bought ahead of the starting Project 333. I love how I look and feel in strapless tops and genuinely think this top will be perfect for “going out” occasions in the evening and dressed down with white linen pants come spring.
Let me know if you have any additional questions or plan on joining me in Project 333!
Have a great weekend,
